The Green Mark features green leaves surrounding the Earth, symbolizing a commitment to protecting the environment and conserving natural resources. Products that carry the label must meet the standards established by Taiwan’s Ministry of Environment and receive official certification. This gives consumers a clear and reliable way to identify more environmentally responsible products when making purchasing decisions.
The concept of green consumption grew out of the environmental movement in Europe and North America, with countries such as Germany, Canada, Japan, and the Nordic nations later establishing their own environmental labeling programs.
Taiwan introduced its Green Mark program in 1992 to encourage manufacturers to reduce pollution and resource consumption while helping consumers support products that are recyclable, less polluting, and more resource-efficient.
